The Pupil Premium was introduced by the government in April 2011.

“ Pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the   attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.”

(Department for Education)

Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils. The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is not a personal budget for individual pupils. Schools must use the PPG funding for the purpose of raising the educational attainment of students. The Pupil Premium Strategy outlines how schools intend to spend the funding which can be found on the school website.

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium if you receive any of the following:

· Income support

· Income-based Jobseeker’s allowance

· Income-related employment and support allowance.

· Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

· The guaranteed element of Pension Credit

· Child tax credit, provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190

The school office will help with your  application. If your application is successful, not only will your child receive free school meals, but our school will receive  £1385 additional funding (per child).
